Italian reports say Cristian Chivu has called an emergency meeting of his Inter Milan players before flying back to Europe amid a rift between Lautaro Martinez and Hakan Çalhanoglu.

dello Sport reports that the 44-year-old wanted to remind his players that the team must be united and move in the same direction when pre-season for the new campaign begins in a few weeks.
The Nerazzurri leaders have expressed their thoughts on the situation and the team have praised Chivu’s decision to hold an emergency meeting on the matter. Çalhanoglu
was unable to attend the meeting as he had travelled back to Europe with other injured players before Inter lost to Fluminense in the last 16 of the Club World Cup.

Çalhanoglu then had to take to social media to confirm that he had never betrayed Inter, and also criticized the Argentine striker’s words as creating division rather than uniting the team.
Tension within the Inter team was also seen when Marcus Thuram reportedly liked Çalhanoglu’s post in response to Martinez’s words.
