Frenkie de Jong has revealed he needs to take extra care of his ankle after an injury kept him out for five months.
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, 27, admitted to Voetbal International on Friday that managing his right ankle injury has been difficult and has taken longer to recover than expected, and he now needs to take more care of it.
Frankie has been struggling with an ankle injury since the Clasico clash with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in mid-April, with initial estimates suggesting the Dutch midfielder would be out for five to six weeks, but it took him five months to recover before he could return to action.
‘I spent a lot of time on my ankle. Now I have to take care of it more. Before, I didn’t think about my ankle before the game, but now I have to get treatment before training and games.’
‘I have to ice my ankle, I have to prepare for Register ufabet special training. I think this will continue for a while, I will have to take care of my ankle for a longer period.’ the Dutch midfielder said.
De Jong is back with the Netherlands squad for the first time in 14 months and will be hoping for minutes over the international break against Hungary and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
