Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has provided an update on Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez after he withdrew from the national team.
Martinez reports to Argentina camp for World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Peru
The 26-year-old was delay at a Brazilian airport along with other Premier League stars including Emiliano Martinez. Cristian Romero, Enzo Fernandez and Facundo Buonanotte.
But when he arrived at the camp. Martinez was release from the Argentina camp shortly after, with initial reports stating that he had a hip problem.
Scaloni admitted Martinez’s injury came as a surprise and explained the defender was actually suffering from a back problem.
It is understand the pain was cause after he suffer the injury in United’s 3-0 win over Leicester on Sunday.
“We don’t think it’s a case of Lisandro,” Scaloni said.
“We saw he had an injury to his back, but obviously he didn’t have any problems. It was just a soreness,”
“When he got here, the pain was a little bit more. He had tests UFABET and wasn’t fit enough to be here.”
Argentina were beat 2-1 by Paraguay. With Antonio Sanabria and Omar Alderete on target for the hosts. After Lautaro Martinez has open the scoring for the world champions.
They remain top of South America’s World Cup qualifying standings despite the defeat. With Scaloni’s side having earned 22 points from 11 matches.
The world champions will aim to bounce back from the defeat when they face Peru at home on Tuesday.
For Martinez, the target is to be back fit ahead of United’s next game at Ipswich on Sunday in a week’s time.
