Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka has opened up ahead of his side’s trip to former club Arsenal in a friendly in England on Wednesday.

Xhaka joined Leverkusen from Arsenal last summer. UFABET  And has been a key figure in the club’s incredible run to an unbeaten Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal.

On Wednesday 7 August, Xhaka will return to action at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium for the Gunners’ friendly against the Pharmacy ahead of the new season. Which kicks off in just a few days. 

The veteran midfielder said after learning he would be playing for his old club: “It’s special to be back where I played for seven years. I had a great time at Arsenal and I still speak to a lot of the players and staff every day.”

“In the team, there are Thomas Partey, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus. And in the last two or three weeks I haven’t spoken to them much about the game. But only in the last few days. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again.”

The Switzerland captain also spoke about the importance of the warm-up. Saying: “In football terms, we (Leverkusen) face a very strong opponent and it’s a big challenge for us. But also a challenge for Arsenal.”
